Nestled on 100 acres of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers land (leased to the City) behind a willow forest in the Prado Basin lies the small, community oriented, Corona Municipal Airport. The airport is home to 350-400 general aviation aircraft and is strictly a recreational airport, with no commercial flights. Our small airport is extremely active, with over 60,000 annual operations. The airport has 15 businesses, which generate about 75 jobs. All the commercial facilities are aviation oriented except one, Bob's Cafe. Many pilots from all over Southern California come to Corona just to eat breakfast and lunch at Bob's, as do many residents and business people. Bob's is especially known as the place to go for a real power breakfast.Because the airport is located on Army Corps of Engineers land and is used for recreational flying only, it is under the jurisdiction of the Parks and Community Services Department. Throughout the years the Airport has been operated at no cost to the taxpayers. All revenues to operate and maintain it are generated through rental fees and state grants. A major priority is that the airport continue to be self-sustaining.The Corona Municipal Airport, located at the corner of Smith Street and Butterfield Road, just north of the Butterfield Park, has a small-town charm where people are quick to smile and call each other by first name. Many pilots and non-pilots alike have dubbed it the "friendliest little airport in the world." During the daylight hours our gates are open to all visitors. All we ask is that people stay off the taxiway and runway and stay alert, remembering that aircraft always have the right-of-way.

In November 2000, the Corona Heritage Foundation became the worthy proprietors. By December 2000, the first phase of the 10,000 sq. ft. Corona Heritage Museum was opened in what once was the 1937 company store.Local artists clamored to fill the fine art gallery. Studio space was lent to professionals in trade for their commitments to provide culture and education to the community. Children began to learn painting, sculpture and theory. Suddenly Corona had a museum with the promise of enrichment beyond anything available before. The scope and range of possibilities for what Corona Heritage Park can provide is sweeping. A home for history and preservation, a center for art and culture, and a place that simply says this is what Corona is all about, past, present and future.

The Economic Development Division is responsible for attracting new business to Corona and for retaining existing businesses. The major objectives of Corona's economic development division are:Seek and attract quality businesses to locate and expand their sales, facilities, and employment.Conduct business communications, outreach, and retention activities. Redevelop and revitalize blighted commercial sites. Guide establishment of a diversified local business base to provide growing sales and property tax revenues to the City to support municipal operations. The pro-business attitude of the Economic Development Program is reflected in the Team Corona concept. City officials actively work to make the transition of a business a smooth one by exploring incentives, site selection, and other avenues of support. When appropriate, the Team is expanded to include the California Trade and Commerce Agency, Riverside County Economic Development Agency, Inland Empire Economic Partnership, Southern California Edison, the Gas Company, and the Workforce Development Board.Use of Team Corona, with the Economic Development Division participating as "first contact" for the developer/business owner, brings new businesses to Corona every year and retains the companies that are already here. Before you enter into any purchase, lease, or rental agreements, check with the Planning Department to verify whether or not your proposed business is allowed in the zone you are considering. Please contact the Planning Department at (951) 736-2262 with your questions regarding zoning.
